God bless Dr. Akins and his family. I have many fond memories of my move to Austin in 1989 and the wonderful conversations with Charles Akins. His intelligence, kindness, and goodness will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.

Dr. Akins You will always be remembered and truly cherished by my family and myself. You were the only person my kids could think that had fulfilled the requirements of what a presenter should be when awarding the Eagle Scout Rank. They thought and struggled for several weeks and kept coming back to you. They looked up to you in so many ways and admired you in many more. I want to thank for everything you stood for just for being there for my boys. You will be missed. To the family my heart aches for your loss. You are in prayers.

Estella, Joyce. Diane and the Grandchildren,
Please accept my deepest sympathy at the loss of your loved one and humble matriarch. I was lucky to start and end my teaching career in AISD with Dr. Akins as my only principal. That union lasted many years, as he was always there to guide and encourage me as I moved into central administration. He was a father-figure in my life, and I will miss him dearly. As you know, he was unique in his ability to get you to do things just because he asked you to do so. His kindness, soft voice and ability to see the positive side of things was a gift that many of us marveled at over the years. He paid the price for so much that many of our young people enjoy today in our school district. I pray that as time passes, your tears will fade, and you will smile and remember all of the fond memories that you have of him. May God bless and keep each of you.

My deepest sympathy & prayers to the family of Dr. Akins. It was a privilege & honor to have known him as one of our greatest educators in the Austin Independent School District. We appreciated his presence & being our guest speaker @ our 30th reunion of (1971) the last graduating class of the original L.C. Anderson High. May he rest in peace in the arms of our Lord & Savior Jesus the Christ.

Dear Family:
We are so sorry for your loss. I knew Dr. Akins because he taught my older sister and brother at Old L C. Anderson and always had wonderful things to say about him. Please find comfort in the scripture at Revelations 21:4 where God promises, "And death will be no more." We need to wait on that day.
