Mrs. Bernice Lewis Bedford was born on June 25th 1943 in Lee County to Carl Lewis Sr. & Millie Shepard Lewis, the second of three siblings.

She attended George Washington Carver High School in Burton, Texas. She professed her love and belief in God as a teenager and was baptized at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Burton, Texas. She was a member of St. Elmo Baptist Church for over forty years where she served as a deaconess and often decorated the church for special occasions. Bernice remained a faithful member until her health failed and her death.

She worked for the Austin Woman's Club for 30 years as a Dining Room Coordinator & Decorator, where she was known for her beautiful flower arranging. She retired in 2004.

Bernice was united in marriage to Mr. Eugene Isaiah Bedford on January 27th, 1967 and they were married for 37 1/2 years until his death in July 27, 2004. To this union two sons were born: Christopher Eugene and Isaiah Avery Bedford

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Her precious memories are shared by her sons, Christopher (Tiffany), Avery (Veronica); One sister Cardell Walker (Artis); One brother JD Lewis (Carolyn); Brothers-in-law, Willie B. Bedford, (Darlene), Horace David Chambers, Lawrence Chambers, John Bedford (Margie), David Bedford; Sisters-in-law,
Lillian Eppright, Elizabeth Bedford, Willie Bedford; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
