Lillian McArthur Wicks

Mrs. Lillian Wicks was born July 1, 1918 in Webberville, Texas to Charlie and Virginia Meeks McArthur. She was one of thirteen children born to the McArthur's, nine of whom survived infancy. Her parents, five brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

On Thursday, September 15, 2011, God in his infinite wisdom and mercy, called Lillian to eternal rest. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by family and friends.

Lillian accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior and was baptized in Webberville at an early age.

As a young adult, she moved to Austin to join other siblings and attended L. C. Anderson High School and Christian Beauty College, where she graduated and became a licensed Beauty Operator. She soon met and married Frank James Wicks, Jr. The couple married and lived in Austin until his passing in 199e. Lillian was devoted to her family and loyal to her friends. She was a hairdresser in Austin until 1990.

Lillian was devoted to her family and loyal to her friends. After moving to Austin, Lillian became a member of Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church and served there faithfully for more than seventy years, serving on Usher Board #2, until her health prevented regular attendance.

Among those she leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory are two sisters: Mrs. Lucy Jean Wells and Mrs. Narvell Matthews; nine nieces, four nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
