Palmo Vincent, Sr. was born on May 3, 1920 in Round Top, Texas to Powell (Bill) Vincent and Mary Emma McCoy-Vincent.

He professed his faith in Christ at an early age. He united with the Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Round Top, Texas where he served faithfully on the Deacon Board and in the Choir for a number of years. He also served as the Manager of a Quartet for many years. He later relocated to Austin, Texas and attended several Churches before uniting with the Divine Fellowship Baptist Church, where he served as a faithful Deacon until his health failed. In keeping with his love for gospel music, he often attended Church musicals. He also loved to call in “song requests” to Radio Stations.

Palmo attended School in the Round Top, School District. He was employed by the Southern Pacific Rail Road for many years. When he relocated to Austin he became employed by the University of Texas until he retired.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Elnora Knotts on January 29, 1941 in Round Top, Texas. To this union four children were born; Palmo Vincent, Jr., Elmo Vincent, Emma L. Vincent and Ella M. Vincent.

Palmo was preceded in death by his parents: Powell (Bill) Vincent and Mary Emma McCoy-Vincent; brothers: Ollis Vincent (Loraine), James Vincent (Essie), Essex Vincent (Tennie); one sister: Cora Mae Thomas (L.J. Thomas, Sr.); two daughters: Emma L. Vincent-Anderson (Freddie) and Ella Vincent.

Palmo Vincent, Sr. is survived by his wife Elnora Vincent; one sister: Annie Elizabeth Taylor, Houston, Texas; two sons: Palmo Vincent, Jr. (Brenda) Houston, Texas, Elmo Vincent (Martha) Austin, Texas; 14 Grandchildren, 30 Great-grandchildren 8 Great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
