Irene B. White, 94 passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2011. She was born in Manor, Travis County, Texas to Ira Bell and Robertha Scott Bell. Irene was the second oldest of six children in the family of two boys and four girls, who all preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her loving husband, Rufus Daniel White.

She grew up in a happy home and professed a love for Christ at an early age and was baptized by Reverend W. S. Ross at Gildon Creek Third Baptist Church. After moving to Austin, while working in the church she met and later married Rufus D. White, a young entrepreneur, a Carpenter by trade, on January 14, 1950--the Reverend H. A. Sneed officiated.

Mrs. White joined David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in October, 1942, under the leadership of Reverend E. G. Gibbs. Sister White loved Sunday School and was former president of the Mission II Debra Circle and also served on the Usher Board. Mrs. White retired from Austin Independent School District, Reagan High School as a Dietary Specialist. Being a strong believer /worker in the community, Mrs. White was a member of McKinley Heights Neighbor Association.

She leaves to mourn her homegoing one son, Reverend Michael D. White Pre-Doctoral in Community Development of Austin, TX; two sisters-in-law, Johnnie M. Overton (Dea. Hardy Overton) and Jean Bell both of Austin, TX; one great cousin, Margarette Scott of Austin, TX; nieces, nephews and many other loving members and friends.
