Bertha Mae Duvall was born on April 2, 1915 to George and Lillie Chambers Duvall. She was born in Bastrop County.

"Sudda" as we affectionately called her professed her hope in Christ at an early age and united with Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member. She was baptized in the Colorado River (behind the church), in July 1928. Sudda served as a faithful usher for over sixty (60) years.

She lived in the Utley community and graduated from the Union Hill School. Her favorite hobbies were cooking, cleaning, sewing, planting pecan trees, growing roses, helping and feeding people. She always made you feel very welcome when you came to her house.

In nineteen thirty-seven (1937), Sudda was wed to Mr. Hugh Lofton, Sr., and to the union eight (8) children were born.

She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, one sister, Ola Mae Duvall Morrison, one son Booker T. Lofton and a special cousin Frankie Vincent.

Sudda leaves to cherish her memories, seven children, Dave (Debra) Lofton of Austin, TX., Alma Marie Davis of Los Angeles, CA., Carrie (Bobby) Jennings of Gardena, CA., George (Katherine) Lofton of Austin, TX., Lee Edward Lofton of Elgin TX., Georgia Lee Kelly of Compton, CA., and Hugh (Bettye) Lofton Jr. of Elgin, TX; a very special friend Marie McShan; twenty-five (25) grand-children, fifty-two (52)) great grand-children and seven (7) great, great grand-children. She will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
