Leroy Wilbert Cleveland was the eighth child born to
Reverend Willis Stephen Cleveland and Lavada Jett-Cleveland on January 26, 1946 in Pflugerville, Texas. He accepted Christ at an early age at David Chapel Baptist Church under the late Reverend J. L. Dawson.

Leroy attended local schools in Austin, graduating from L. C. Anderson High School in 1964 where he was an outstanding athlete. Leroy was a member of the track team and captain of the basketball team. Leroy attended St. Phillips Junior College in San Antonio,
Texas where he graduated and then returned to Austin and attended Huston-Tillotson College (now Huston-Tillotson University). He received numerous awards in high school and college for his athletic abilities.

In June of 1969, Leroy joined the United States Military serving in the Army division in the Vietnam War. While serving in Vietnam, Leroy earned the rank of Specialist 4 and was honorably discharged in April of 1970. After his military service, he returned
to Austin where he worked in the hotel and restaurant business for many years. Leroy loved playing basketball, dominoes and music.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents Reverend Willis Stephen Cleveland and Lavada Jett-Cleveland, his sisters Willie Beatrice Cleveland-Pearson, Alma Jean Cleveland-Thomas, and Annie Marie Cleveland-Washington.

Leroy's memory will be treasured by his daughter Roslyn Michele Cleveland of San Antonio, Texas, daughter Sylvia and son-in-law Brian Shaw of Virginia; his grandchildren, Jasmine Shaw, Brian Shaw II, Daniel Shaw, and Ashley Shaw; brothers
Charles Cleveland (Vernette), Thomas Cleveland, Reverend J. D. Cleveland (Sallie) and A. C. Cleveland (Addie) all of Austin; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.
