Miniver Marie "Mini" Freeman was born on January 15, 1961 at Scoot AFB, in Illinois to Isaac and Minnie Jones, Sr. She was a long term resident of Austin, Texas. After a courageous battle with cancer, mini was called home to be with God peacefully on February 4, 2011. She graduated from Killeen High School in May 1979. She later graduated from Southwest Texas State University in August 1982 with a Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration. In 2008, she received her Master's degree from Saint Edward University in Organizational Leadership and Ethics. Upon her final semester at SWT, Mini completed her internship with the parks and Recreation Department.

Mini began her full-time employment with the City of Austin in 1982, where she held various positions within the department before becoming a Recreational Program Manager. Mini devoted her time to helping the Austin Community brighten their horizon throughout the parks. Her passion for the youth, teens and senior citizens were demonstrated daily. She strived to create and form different activities for teenagers to keep them off the street, for example, Teen Academy. She always made sure her "babies" were taken care of no matter what extra mile she had to go. Many of her fellow co-workers remembered her for the beautiful smile she kept on her face, no matter if the situation was good or bad. After 29 years of hard work and dedication, Mini retired in January of 2011.

Mini always kept God first in her life and most of all loved spending quality time with her son, George. Some of her hobbies were reading books, spending time with her family, shopping, hanging out with friends, and being a recreational professional.

She will forever be remembered as a loving sister by her devoted brother Isaac Jones, Jr.; loving sisters Tempsie Jones, Isalene Welch, Jennifer Shepherd, and Margie Ward; loving sister-in-law Jackie Jones; beloved son George Freeman, Jr.; beloved nephews Isaac III and Michael Shepherd; loving nieces Jené Shepherd, Jordan Welch, Sherry Jones and Holly Jones; along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know her.

Mini touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and she maintained her determination to fight her illness all the way to the end. The family requests all donations be sent to the Austin Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
