Estherine Canady Evans was born on September 4, 1924 in Shepherd (San Jacinto County) Texas to the late Reverend & Mrs. R. B. Canady. Estherine Evans was a devout Christian who accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 9. She graduated from Dixon Shepherd High School (Shepherd, Texas) in 1940.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Joe Caesar Evans on December 1, 1960 in Travis County. She began her nursing career at Brackenridge Hospital in August 1964 and retired in July 1982.

She joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church family around 1960 where she faithfully served. She served Ebenezer in various capacities: Mission 1 Circle 8, Sunday School Teacher, Deaconess Ministry, Discipleship Trainer, and chair person of various other church committees. She was awarded the Distinguished Christian Service award and the Salute to Seniors award. She was a member of the East Austin Economic Development Board. She was also recognized by the Top Ladies of Distinction Inc.

Estherine leaves to cherish her memory: her loving sister Wortha Tee May (Houston, Texas), loving daughter Lorna D. Evans (Columbia, Maryland), grand daughter Lisa Miller (Bastrop, Texas), two great grandsons Glen Miller (“Tony Joe”) and Shawn Lemon (Bastrop, Texas), a loving nephew Jeralan Jerome Kannady (“sweet child”) of Houston, Texas and a host of relatives and friends.
