Maria Louise Washington

Maria Louise Dailey was born on April 15, 1944 to Thydia Williams and Robert Dailey Sr. in Clarksville, Tennessee. She was born the eighth child of eleven children. On May 21, 1966, Maria L. Dailey married Andrew L. Washington, Sr. They settled into Detroit, Michigan and to this union, five children were born.

Maria retired from DIFCO Labs as a Lab Technician. She remained active in her community throughout her life.

After moving to Austin, Texas, the East Nineteenth Street Missionary Baptist Church became a major involvement and commitment in her life as she was an active member of Mission I until her health would not allow her to attend. She was always ready and willing to help anyone with anything they asked her to do. Maria was a member of the Iota Phi Sorority, and a City of Austin Volunteer.

Maria became ill in late 2010. After a brief struggle with numerous medical complications, God in his infinite wisdom chose to call his angel home to rest on the evening of December 26, 2010. She was surrounded by her loving family as she joined her heavenly father in her eternal resting place.

Maria was preceded in death by her loving husband Andrew Washington, Sr.; two sisters, Jeannette Dailey and Lena Eldridge; and three brothers, Charles, Theodore and Robert Dailey.

She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Lolita Washington Rattler, Mishawna Washington, Andreana Washington Wesley and Elizabeth Washington Alvear; one son, Andrew Lee Washington, II; three sons-in-law Gregory B. Rattler, Darin K. Wesley and Luis Alvear; five granddaughters, Shatina, Kierra, Alexiz, Alyssa and Destini; four grandsons, Desmond, Breon, Jared and Nicholas; two sisters, Maggie Jean Skelton and Minnie Hills; three brothers, Finis, Carl and Earl Dailey; alond with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
