On August 10, 1924 a baby girl was born and named Helen Bernice Collins. She was one of five children born and raised in Utley, texas.

Bernice was baptized at an early age and united with the Union Hill Baptist Church where she seved for over eighty-five years. She served on the Mission Board, as an Usher and a faithful member of the Choir.
Bernice loved her church family. She recently joined Lone Star Baptist hurch under the Watch Care of Rev. Fred Blackmon.

Bernice married Johnnie R. Hunter on December 5, 1950 and to this union were seven children: two girls, Helen Irene and Shirley Ann and five boys, Johnny Ray, Jr., Willie Charles, Eugene, Bobby Ray and Elvert Charles.

On December 23, 2010 God felt the need to call her home to glory where she can rest from all these earthly problems. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sons, Johnny Ray, Jr., Willie Charles and Eugene (Cherry); one daughter
Shirley Ann Carthorn (Luther); one granddaughter, Treneicia Contrea Wilson; three brothers, AJ, Willie James, Otis Collins; one sister Alley Mae Roe (JD); five brothers-in-law and three sisters-inl-law.

Bernice leaves to cherish her memory one loving and devoted daughter, Helen Irene Blackman (Fred); two sons Bobby ray and Rev. Charles Hunter (Georgia), Lenny Hunter; nine grandchildren, John Fitzgerald, Johnnie Jr., Helen Taylor (Gary), Charneace Hunter, Laquita, Gerald, Phillip Bell and Tim Smith; six great grandchildren, John Jr., Robert Michael, Kariana, Elijah, Tyson Hunter and Mia Ann Taylor; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
