Kimberleigh Wynett (Kim) Thompson

Kimberleigh Wynette Thompson was born March 29, 1965 in Houston, Texas to Eleanor Faye Davis. She traveled to Japan in 1966 with her mother and father, Albert Earl Thompson, where she learned to speak fluent Japaneseby the time she turned four years old. The family returned to the United States in 1999 with her new baby brother, Albert Earl Thompson, Jr.

Kim began school in Austin at L. L. Campbell Elementary and would attend several schools in different cities as she traveled with her family as a military dependent. The five years spent in England were memorable and upon returning to in Austin in 1980, she enrolled and graduated from Travis High School. She attended Austin Community College and sharpened her innate computer skills. She worked in the high tech industry for IBM and Applied Materials over the years, in 1988, her son Corey Earl Gordon was born and she was ecstatic. Before becoming ill in 2007, she was working at Texas Disposal Systems and enjoyed the faith-based environment. Kim's illness limited her ability to work and she began practicing her talents for writing and a poet was born.

"Strange Fruit da Poet began performing, when her health permitted, at numerous venurs. During this time, she united with Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church under lead Pastor Gaylon Clark and was baptized. He church family joined in nurturing her poetic gifts and assisted her in going to Jamaica to perform on several occasions. She enjoyed data entry for the church from her bed on her trusty laptop computer. She performed thoughout Austin and received numerous invitations from organizations in Canada, England, Africa and a number of cities in the United States. A submittal in the Austin International Poetry Festival culminated in her being published for the first time in their in 2008 Anthology called "di-verse-city".

Kimberliegh went home to be with God, whom she said inspired all of her poetry, on THursday, November 11, 230101 surrounded by her loving family and friends who sang and prayed until her spiritual Passover was felt by all present .

He mother, father, son, Corey and brother Albert Jr. (Veronica), and nephew Xade Zacahariah Biscoe Thompson, survive her, alon with Aunts, Ruth Sauls (Leroy), Edith McKinney and Betty Spight (Willie), Uncles, James Davis and Curtis Davis (ROse), all of Austin, Texas, Aunts, Merle Thompson and Zelda Flauders, Uncles, Vincent Serrant and Peet, all live in St. Thomaa, Virgin Islands. Aunt Alice Duggins, resides in New York. Great Uncle, Charlie Davis and Great Aunt, Lula Irving, live in Houston, Texas and a host of cousins form Austin, Houston, New York, California and St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
