Our beloved Dorothy Nell Williams 59 of Austin, Texas slipped away to the nearer presence of God on October 20, 2010. She was born on May 26, 1951 in El Campo, Texas to Viola Shannon. She was raised in Ralls, Texas and attended Ralls Schools from Kindergarten through her graduation from High School in 1970. Upon graduation she attended Community College in Lubbock, Texas.

Dorothy worked as a medication nurse at the Crosbyton Clinic Hospital for 25 years and upon her retirement she then moved to Austin, Texas where she cared for the mentally ill and handicap. Dorothy's greatest joy in life was caring for children, her family and others.

Dorothy is survived by her mother, Viola Shannon; daughter, Mackayla Williams; siblings, Sammy Shannon and wife LaVern and their children of Kress, Texas, Alma Faye Shannon of Ralls, Texas, Maxcine Washington and husband Raymond of Austin, Texas and their children Linda Sparks and husband Gregory and child of Austin, Texas, Barbara Williams of Austin, Texas , Pauline Williams of Dallas, Texas, a host of nephews and nieces: Byran Williams, Justin Williams, Sammy Shannon, Jr., Keith Edward Shannon, Chad Washington, Katrina Sparks, Chasity Washington, Glenda Faye Shannon, Jenelle Shannon and a host of relatives and friends.

Those who are a part of her family either by birth, marriage, church or friendship feel truly blessed to have known her and have been forever changed by her character, spirit, and her sharp wit and always pleasant smile will be truly missed.
