Travis Alexander Humphries, Sr., one of several children born to the union of Lonnie and Veola Humphries, May 4, 1946.

Travis professed a hope in Christ at an early age at the Union Lee Baptist Church of Utley, Texas under the leadership of Rev. J. D. Cleveland, serving in the different organizations. While growing up, Travis received his education through the Elgin Independent School District as well as the Manor School District.

As a young man, Travis loved singing. This included singing with his grandmother and other cousins and later in life, the Humphries Gospel Singers were organized. This kept Travis singing gospel for many years throughout Austin and the surrounding communities.

After moving to Austin, Travis met and married Bobbie Jean Brown of Austin and to this union two sons were born.

Travis was one of the first black men to drive for Austin Transit – Capitol Metro System for many years where he met many friends as he did his job very well.

Preceding Travis in death includes his parents; one son, Travis Wayne, Jr.; four brothers Roy, Clifford, Leovard and Kenneth, all of Austin, Texas.

Left to cherish his memory are three sons Tyrone Alexander (Humphries) Brazell, Jacob and Joseph Trevino; six grandchildren; one brother, Lee Essard of Seattle, Washington and sister Betty of Austin, Texas. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
