Rev. John Thomas Johnson, Sr. was born august 25, 1955 to Crawford Walker Johnson, Sr. and Catherine (Burditt) Johnson.

John attended Webberville and the Austin Independent School District. He worked for the City of Austin for a number of years. Later, he worked as a maintenance person.

He accepted Christ as his savior at a very early age at Greater Union Baptist Church of Austin, Texas. He later united with True Light Baptist Church of Austin where he accepted God's call to be a minister under the leadership of his pastor, Rev. J. R. Williams.

Later, John moved his membership to rock Quarry Missionary Baptist Church of Austin where he served as minister under Pastor H. Taylor. Serving as a minister at Rock Quarry symbolized his going back to the roots of his father. This was one of his most joyous times, being at home with his dad's family. John served at rock Quarry until his death.

His father and mother, Crawford and Catherine Johnson, his favorite aunt, Rosetta Burditt, and brother-in-law Minister Robert Doyle, Sr. preceded John in death.

He leaves to cherish precious memories his children, Jonathan Hodges, Shelly Johnson, Michael Johnson, Marquese Johnson, Andre Johnson, Larry Walker, John Johnson, Jr., Fortune Johnson, Demeisha Walker, and ShaQueen Walker; three brothers, Crawford Johnson, Jr. (Chris), Milton Johnson, Rev. Theodore Johnson (Brenda Johnson); three sisters, Katie Burditt, Kathy James (Pastor Leonard James), Camera Doyle (the Late Minister Robert Doyle, Sr.), all of Austin, Texas; twenty-five grandchildren; special friend Patrice McAllister (Sunshine) of Austin, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
