Claude Lee was born on the banks of the Colorado River in Austin, Texas on Friday, January 15, 1926. His parents, the late Edgar and Bertha Lee, welcomed the new baby boy to a family of three boys and two girls. Claude's position as the baby of the family was short with the addition of three more boys (including twins), bringing the Lee Family to a total of nine.

During his youth, Claude spent much of his time literally horse playing with his siblings, herding cattle, and playing baseball. It was at a baseball game late one summer in Thrall, Texas that led him to meet Sammie Lee, the love of his life. With love in his heart, Claude packed up his things and left the subtle hills of Austin, setting out east to the black soil of Taylor, Texas to start his 56 year journey with Sammie Lee.

Claude's strong determination and an entrepreneurial spirit led him to pursue several business ventures including a grocery store and gas station. He also spent time farming and raising livestock.

His spiritual journey led him to the hallowed steps of First Baptist Church, which was just a quick jaunt across the railroad tracks from his home on 509 E. 3rd Street. There, he would become an active member of the church community serving on the Deacon Board and member of the church finance committee.

Claude spent most of his time caring for his ailing wife, Sammie Lee, who resided at the Taylor Care Center. As a testament to his Christian faith, Claude would not only spend time with his wife, but he would also become an active volunteer at the Taylor Care Center.

Claude was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers Ernest, Edgar, Jr. Milton, Sr., Harold and Hardy; and sisters Pauline Lee, Metra Brown and Katie Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving brother, Ralph Lee; daughters Claudia Strong, Althea Fulton and Veronica Hall; sons Donald Ray Brown and Willie Allen; granddaughters Terri Epperson, Tameshia Stull, Ashley Gipson and Katherine Brown; grandsons Darren Fulton, Keithon Gipson and Delorean Gipson; sons-in-law Thomas Fulton and Phillip Strong; sisters-in-law Ernestine Lee and Mozell Lee; and a host of nieces and nephews.
