R. Z. Jones, Jr. was born the first child to the late Mr. R. Z. Jones, Sr. and the late District Missionary Eleanor Bishop Jones in Elgin, Bastrop County, Texas.

He was educated through the Elgin Independent School District and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School where he won many state track championships. He played wide receiver on the high school football team, played the tuba in the band, and was part of the Male Trio.

After high school, he worked in the Service Industry in local hotel chains. He also worked for the Austin Independent School District Transportation Department and was a self employed auto mechanic.

Zeke was a people person, and he never met a stranger. He loved all sports. The Dallas Cowboys and L. A. Lakers were his favorite teams. He also had a passion for baseball and bowling, playing both sports as a semi-pro. Psalm 121 and Psalm 23 were two of his favorite scriptures. he loved old hymns and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" was one of his favorites. He loved his family. They were very important to him, and would get excited whenever he got a change to spend time with them.

He was united in Holy Matrimony on July 25, 1969 to his devoted wife Patricia Frances Bremond Jones (41 years). They resided in Oakland, California since 1975. They are the parents of two children, Ronald Bremond Jones (Lakiesha), and Regina Danielle Jones (Ernest), six grandchildren, Ronald, Destiny, Corinne, Giana, Niani and Noah.

His life journey ended Tuesday, August 31, 2010. He was preceded in death by both parents and one brother, Waymon D. Jones.

Left to cherish his memories are a loving and devoted wife; his two children; six grandchildren; sisters, Mary Ann Ates (Thomas) of Austin, Texas, Anita Risby (Dewayne) of Pflugerville, Texas, Donna Janelle Mayberry (Houston, Texas), Darlene Whitehead (James) of Hutto, Texas, and Vanessa Gail Hudson (Cedric) of Round Rock, Texas; brothers Barry C. Jones (Matokia) of Durham, North Carolina, Charles Ray Jones (Bertha) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Dave G. Jones (Gail) of Austin, Texas, Clyde E. Jones of Austin, Texas, Herbert D. Jones (Cynthia) of Lexington, Texas, Barney E. Jones (Lynn) of Alpharetta, Georgia. He will also be dearly missed by all of his nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
