Avied Joe (Avied D.) Walker, Sr. was born in Travis County on July 1, 1937 to the late Joe Henry Walker and Sarah Alexander Walker. He was educated through the Austin Public Schools.

He confessed hope in Christ at an early age and was later united with Unity Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. L. Hardeman. He was a member for over 20 years of the Montopolis Lodge #339, Austin, Texas. He achieved Glover Temple #10 - 32°, under Worshipful Master Rodrick Brown, Sr. He was employed by the Austin Women's club for 48 years.

Early in life he was united in holy matrimony to the late Betty Lou Hancock Walker. Through that union three children were born, Avied Joe Walker, Jr., Emma Lorene White and Ruth Ann Ripley.

He also united in holy matrimony for a second time to Dorothy Nell Bullard Walker. Through that union he became father to Gary Eugene Bullard, Sharon Everett Bullard and Bruce Wayne Bullard. Also through that union a daughter was born, Tammy Lanette Walker.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Dorothy; his seven children; three siblings Rev. Maurice Walker, Susie Baker McTeigue, and George Jones; his stepmother Ella Walker Jones; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
