Curtis (Lil Brother) Doxie was born November 1, 1934 to Spencer (Jack) and Essie Lee Johnson Doxie. He was the second child and only son. Curtis was educated in the Austin Independent School District, attending Olive Street Elementary, Kealing Junion High School and graduating from the original L. C. Anderson High School in 1952. Upon completing high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After completing his tour he settled in Los Angeles, California, living there for a number of years and then moved back to Austin, texas.

He was employed with Davis Moving Company for a number of years until he was disabled.

He leaves to mourn his passing his younger sister, Celestine Doxie Hooper and her husband Roosevelt (Reverend) of Riverside, California; his two nieces, Jacqueline Mays-Tealer (Melvin) and Karen Mays-Terry whom he affectionately called "Moe" and "Larry, of Austin, Texas and nephew Daryl Lynn Hooper of Riverside, California. His great nieces and nephews will miss him also, Allyson Markese Terry (lil Moe) and Camille Rene Tealer, Daryl Lynn Hooper, Jr. and Devin Hooper of Riverside, California. Curtis had noe remaining uncle, Starlin Johnson of Los Angeles, California and cousins Marvin Eugene Doxie of Las Vegas, Nevada and Maxine Doxie Alexander of Austin, Texas.
