Elmo Williams was born April 11, 1928 to Noil and Norvella Haywood Williams in Bastrop County, Texas. In Taylor he received his formal education graduating from Blackshear Senior High School in 1945.

Elmo spent 3 years in the United States Army defending his country in Korea, Japan and stateside duty at Fort Sill in Oklahoma; following high school.

After returning home he re-entered Texas College in Tyler, Texas where he received his Bachelors of Art degree. While there he met and married his wife G’Vahn, and to this union three beautiful children were born; D’Borah Ruth, Reginald Eugene and Trevor Bénet Williams.

Later, he also attended the University of Texas at Austin where he did some graduate work, while employed at the Texas Department of Health. Elmo moved to New Jersey where he worked as an instructor for the U. S. Public Health Service and later moved to St. Louis where he retired from the U. S. Department of Social Security. Subsequently, he served as the Commissioner of Health for the City of East St. Louis, and also as an Alderman in Velda Village, MO.

Elmo was preceded in death by his parents, Noil and Norvella; step-mother, Lee Edna Williams; brothers, Arthur, Eartha, and Floyce Lee Williams, and two sisters, Kyra and Maxine Williams.

Elmo leaves to cherish his memories: six children, D’Borah LaNier of Grand Prairie, TX, Sherilyn Brockington of Austin, TX, Jeannie Williams of Long Beach, CA, Reginald Williams, Sr. of St. Louis, MO, Trevor Williams, Sr., of Dallas, TX, and Adrian Williams of Mesquite, TX; siblings, Lula Bishop and Edna Thomas of California, Zenobia Quakins of Alaska, Norma Dunnington, Norman Williams of Austin, TX and Sammie L. Williams all of Taylor, Texas. A special nephew Michael Harrell of Taylor, TX, and special niece Sharron Harrell of Temple, Texas; 16 grand children, 11 great grand children, 1 great-great grand child, a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
