Sister Alberta Clemons, born in Jonah, Texas, was the eighth child of twelve children of parents Alf Clemons and Frances Wilson. She confessed her hope in Christ at an early age. Sister Clemons joined St. James under the leadership of the late Rev. E. M. Franklin.

Sister Clemons was a no-nonsense person, one who meant what she said and said what she meant. She worked at numerous U.T. Boarding houses, Nursing Homes and later, retired from the Texas Employment Commission, which is now the Texas Workforce Commission. She was a true believer that your word is your bond - and that is how she lived her life. If she said it, she stood by it!

Sister Clemons joined the General Services Auxiliary some twenty years ago. She served in the capacity of president for the Nurse's Aide for over twenty years. She joined the Mission I in 2007, and served faithfully until her health would not allow her to attend the meetings. Sister Clemons was a devoted member and caller for the Golden Aires choir. She looked forward in contacting the brothers and sisters for rehearsal time because again, it allowed her to talk on the phone, something she loved doing. Sister Clemons' passion was working with the Seasoned Saints of the East Side Church of Christ "Meals on Wheels" program to the elderly. She worked faithfully with this group until it was discontinued.

Preceding her in death are her parents and siblings: Albert Clemons, Josephine Marshall, Susie Johnson, Charles Clemons, Alcy Clemons and Earlie Clemons.

Sister Clemons leaves to cherish her precious memories, children Gloria Weathersby of Sienna Vista, Arizona, George "Billy" Clemons (Barbara) of Houston, Texas, Stella Roland (Eddie) of Austin, Texas, Sterling Wilson (Patti) of Vallejo, California; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren; sisters Frances Clemons, Lola Mae Spence (Bill), Rosie Baker, all of Austin, Texas; brothers Andrew Clemons of Houston, Texas and Willie L. Clemons of Taylor, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and relatives.
