Lee Vera Carathers was born in Austin, Texas on August 25, 1952. She was the first child of three born to Litt Davis and Ora Nell Mitchell.

Lee Vera accepted Christ at an early age in San Antonio, Texas. She attended school in Austin, Texas where she met the love of her life the late William Melvin Carathers III. In their union were four children: Shirley Davis, Gwendolyn Carathers and Justin Alexander all of Austin, Texas and William Carathers IV of Oklahoma.

She had a passion for cooking, dancing, singing and she was a member of a Gospel Choir. The neighborhood kids would call her Maw Maw because she treated them like family. She had an outgoing personality that drew people to her. She was always willing to help out in the time of need. She loved being around her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband William Melvin Carathers III, sister Eva Jean Davis and brother Litt Davis, Jr., and one grandchild Porsche Carathers.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories parents Litt Davis and Ora Nell Mitchell; children Shirley Davis, Gwendolyn Carathers, Justin Alexander all of Austin, Texas and William Carathers IV (Rebecca) of Oklahoma; grandchildren Kylondra Glenn of Dallas, Texas, Crystal Carathers, Bridgette Carathers, Chris Carathers and Kendra Taylor, William Carathers V, Chelsey Carathers, Kelsy Carathers, all of Austin, Texas, Destry Lee Carathers of Oklahoma; great grandchildren Kavon Carathers, Xavier Williams, Aavonna Carathers, Jakarius Fresch, Christian Hardeman, all of Austin, Texas and Kyl'andre Glenn and Tromond Mathis, Jr., both of Dallas, Texas; special friends La'Vette Williams and Jackie Williams of Austin, Texas.
