Johnnie Donald Dorsey, Jr., also known to the family as "Donnie", was born on June 3, 1968 in Wichita Falls, Texas. During his youth, Johnnie was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church where he was a member of the youth group and also was an altar server.

He attended Sidney Lanier Senior High School where he enjoyed participating in football and track. He attended college at Prairie View A&M University, Texas Southern University and University of Houston where he also played football. Johnnie was part owner and a member of the Austin Assassins Semi-Pro Football Team.

Johnnie expanded his horizons by living and working in Houston, Texas, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Atlanta, Georgia. When Johnnie went to these various cities, he had an impact on the lives of many people that he came in contact with as a marketing representative. He was assertive in his approach to his various work endeavors. Johnnie was a great person to many and he was the kind of person that stood by you when you needed somebody to be there.

Johnnie thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent with his two wonderful children, Lovon'Drey and Johnisha. From his generous nature, his warmth, his sense of humor, his love for people and children, his passion to do what was right, his confidence, his easy-going attitude, to his love for God, Johnnie Dorsey, Jr. was someone special. All those that knew Johnnie knew he was always smiling and brought smiles to those around him. His positive attitude and optimism taught others to never give up. Johnnie knew the right words to say to offer comfort, healing, and a plan of action to change for the better.

Johnnie returned to Austin in January 2009 and his family was blessed to spend this precious time with him. One of the highlights during this period of time was his being a part of a family trip to Galveston, Texas. He rose early in the morning to experience the beautiful sunrises and he serenely watched the coastal sunsets. Johnnie was well-loved and he has done many things on earth. We all know he'll do much more in heaven. We will forever be grateful to have known Johnnie Dorsey, Jr. as he will forever be missed.

He is survived by his parents, Johnnie Donald Dorsey, Sr. and Verna Dean Dorsey, his sister Shannon Johnson (Trevor), and his children Johnisha Dorsey and Lovon'Drey Dorsey. He also leaves behind a loving family of nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
