There are three steps to heaven . . .
out of self; into Christ; into glory.

On July 6, 2009 Jesus said it was time for Joyce to come home, although we thought differently. He said her work here on earth was done.

Joyce was born on June 15, 1948 to Bennie Lee and Ethel Mae Davis.

She was baptized at an early age at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J. J. Dixon where she served as Junior Choir Director, Vacation Bible school teacher and youth bible study teacher. Joyce’s enthusiasm for religion and her willingness to study and do her best for her Lord and her life’s purpose was very evident.

Joyce was a life long resident of Austin, Texas where she graduated from Johnston High School. At the time of her departure, she was a six year retiree from the U.S. Treasury where she worked for over 30 years.

Joyce was a dedicated member of the music choir M³, where she enjoyed traveling and spreading their ministry.

Some remember her as the one who mailed get well cards to the sick and words of encouragement to whom she felt needed a little lift.

Preceding her in death was her father Bennie Lee and her infant son Derek.

To celebrate her memories and rejoice in her home going she leaves her mother, Ethel Mae Davis and brother Johnny Williams, both of Austin; four aunts, one uncle, many, many, many adopted children and a host of relatives.
