Jessie Mae Washington was born October 5, 1915 to Mr. and Mrs. Thompson. She received her formal education in the Granger public schools in Granger, Texas. Later she continued her education at Huston-Tillotson College (now Huston-Tillotson University), Austin, Texas.

Jessie Mae was baptized at an early age, when she accepted Christ in her life. In 2007 she joined New Birth by Faith Christian Center under the leadership of Bishop Cleveland Alexander, and remained faithful until her health began to decline.

Jessie Mae was married for 54 years to the love of her life, George Washington, who preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her love and memories, Zelma Seidel (Maurice) of Pflugerville, Texas, Bishop Cleveland Alexander (Cynthia), Caroline Alexander, Anne Harris, Cecilia Alexander, Kenneth Alexander, Rickey Gray, James Gray, Jr., Elizabeth Gray, Debbie Gray, Charleston Gray, Willie Rae Thompson (Odean), all of Austin, Texas; a number of great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
