Daisy Lee Johnson was born in Hempstead, Texas on September 9, 1909 to Henrietta and Doc Monroe. She peacefully said good-bye to this life Friday, July 3, 2009 at the age of 99 surrounded by her loving daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter.

She relocated to live in Austin at the age of eight with two sisters to complete and obtain a better education. Daisy married Frank Lawson Johnson in 1939 and to this union one daughter was born, Eleanor Clarice.

Daisy was basically a homemaker and subsequently doing day work for the Folks family.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church until uniting with McKinley Heights COGIC. She was a dutiful saint and member for over 60 years. She served as Recording Secretary for over 20 years, Leader of Tribe #7 and the Prayer Band for many years. "Mother Johnson" (as she was known) was a faithful servant, believer, and always rejoicing with a testimony for the Lord.

"Ms. Daisy", as she was affectionately called, had a beautiful, kind, giving heart and spirit about her. She loved to help others. She was a true warrior, with her spiritual belief and faith, she rebounded from many medical challenges, but always gave the credit to GOD. She loved her family and lived with her daughter (Eleanor) and "her Son"-in-law (Rudell) for over 28 wonderful, enjoyable years with only the last 16 months at Walnut Hills Convalescent Center.

Daisy is preceded in death by her husband Frank (1961), mother, father, sisters Mayme, Annie Rachael, Edna, Bessie and brothers James and Roosevelt.

Daisy leaves to celebrate her precious memory a loving and devoted daughter, Eleanor; son-in-law Rudell; granddaughter, Phyllis Marie Roe; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
