Alma Williams was born in Granger, Texas on December 14, 1914 to Stella Hardaway who died shortly after childbirth. Alma was moved to Gonzales, Texas by her grandmother, Frances Cline.

At an early age, Alma professed a hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age at the St. James Baptist Church of Gonzales, (Peach Creek) Texas. When the family transitioned to Robstown, Texas she united with Greater Star of Zion Baptist Church.

In later years, she move to Austin, Texas and united with Freedom Home Baptist Church, where she served as a faithful member until death. Alma loved her church, and always reminded her daughter to pay her tithes. During her pain and suffering, Alma composed a song, “God You’ve Been Good to Me.”

Alma attended Public School in Gonzales, Texas and graduated third in her class. She expressed a desire to attend college, but due to the illness of her grandmother, she made the decision to be her caregiver.

Alma united in holy matrimony to Olton Williams, and to this union six children were born. They resided in Robstown, Texas for over thirty years, before moving to Austin in the early sixties.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Olton Williams; two sons, Shelton and Obra Gene Williams, and her only brother, Reverend Albert Lampkin.

She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Olton Douglas and Bobby Williams of Austin, Texas and Dowell Ray (Lillie) Williams of San Antonio, Texas, one daughter, Joyce Williams-Jackson (Charles) of Austin, Texas, one brother-in-law, Moses Williams of Austin, Texas, twenty grandchildren, fifty-two great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
