Zera Mae (Mandy) Houston

Our beloved mother, Zera M. Bowser Frank Houston (Mandy) was born on July 28, 1935. She was called home on May 19, 2009 by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Zera Houston graduated from Anderson High School, Austin, Texas. She attended Jarvis Christian College. At an early age she professed her belief and was an active member of Bethany Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) until her health began to fail.

She retired from the Austin State School after serving 21 plus years, as a loyal employee.

Zera and Aaron Frank, Sr. were married in the early 50's and to this union five children were born, Aaron, Jr., Ray, Paul, Mark and Denise. She later married Quincy Houston in the late 60's. He preceded her in death.

Her parents Allan and Clara Bowser, Sr., ten siblings (Obie, Helen, Aubrey, Ralph, A.B., Eloise, Bruce, L.P. Joyce and Bobby), and one great grandson, Michael, preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memories: sons Aaron Frank, Jr. and Mark Frank (Nora), both of Austin, Ray Frank (Sarah) of Pensacola, Florida, Paul Frank (Anita) of Temple, Texas; one daughter Denise Frank Givens of Austin, Texas; one brother, Benny Bowser (Diana) and sister, Rosa Pennick (Thomas) both of Austin, Texas; sisters Vera Brown of Winston Salem, North Carolina, and sister Paula Whitehurst (Elvin) of Greensboro, North Carolina; one uncle, Obie Bowser of Austin, Texas; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two other children whom she considered her own: Gwendolyn Frank Steven and Riley Frank, both of Los Angeles, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
