Minister Tony Shaunte Terrel Monroe was born May 17, 1979 in Austin, Travis County, Texas at Brackenridge Hospital. Minister Monroe's testament of faith and endurance began at birth, being born extremely premature weighing only 15 oz, the wondrous miracles would continue throughout his life.

During his early years, he was extremely creative and embodied an entrepreneurial mind. His earliest business venture was homemade fishing poles, constructed of twigs and rope; his courageous spirit led to making a small profit. His adolescence was spent traveling the world as the child of a military family and he attended several different educational institutions. He was a member of the football and wrestling teams while attending high school and was loved and admired by numerous friends and faculty who nicknamed him "Big Tone", a name he lovingly embraced. He received many awards, certificates and honors which included Most Distinguished Senior of the 1998 graduating class of Woodside High School in Newport News, Virginia. After graduation, he attended Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia. His passions also included his love of church, music, sports and Death Care Industry.

Minister Monroe was a member of Greater St. Johns Church of God in Christ where he accepted his call to ministry under the leadership of Superintendent Anthony V. Monroe, Sr. He was appointed as the local Superintendent of Sunday School for Greater St. Johns and District Superintendent of Sunday School for Lone Star District. In 2002, he was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and in 2008 with Type 2 Diabetes. During his ministry of affliction, Minister Monroe's unshakable faith and desire to fulfill God's purpose for his life was unstoppable. While enduring multiple extended hospitalizations and surgeries, his faith in God never wavered. Weak and painful from complications associated with his illnesses he trusted God to be his all and all while pressing his way to be in service with the Saints of God.

On December 31, 2006, he married the love of his life, Ms. Jennifer Lee Haynes-Monroe who remained dedicated and steadfast by her husband's side nurturing and undergirding him spiritually and through his illness. He was a devoted, loving husband, son, brother, uncle, nephews, cousin and friend comparable to none. He was always uplifting and encouraging everyone he met.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2009, the Lord called our precious Tony from labor to reward. He leaves an abundance of cherished memories, strength, and love to be shared by his wife, Jennifer Haynes Monroe; his father and mother, Kenneth and Gwendolyn McLennan; his sister Kenetria McLennan; his nephew Domenick Austin Terrell; niece Kenyce Marilyn; his uncle and Pastor Superintendent Anthony V. Monroe, Sr.; his aunts, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Superintendent D.C. and Missionary M.L. Monroe, an aunt Marilyn Lawana Monrie and an uncle Emory Lee Monroe. Tony will be so greatly misstd to the point of immeasurable description.
