Harold William Darby, Jr. was born in Watertown, New York. He returned to Austin, Texas with his parents when he was four years old. As a young child, he amazed his parents by being able to assemble his toys—all by himself.

Harold graduated from LBJ High School where he was a member of the track team, participating as a middle and long distance runner. After high school, he attended Austin Community College receiving a certification in Auto Mechanics. He later served in the U. S. Army, where he received additional training in this field. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Harold was employed as a mechanic at Brake Check and Meineke for a total of 16 years.

In his spare time, Harold was a model car enthusiast and collector. He loved working on his 1973 Plymouth Satellite, which he had for more than 17 years. He was the go-to person whenever friends or relatives had car problems and needed repairs.

Harold loved socializing with his relatives and friends and he had a unique sense of humor and an infectious laugh that made everybody take notice.

Harold is survived by his parents; Mother, Joanne Sneed (Arthur), Father, Harold William Darby, Sr. (Fay), Sister, Janet Lynn Darby, Grandmother, Fannie B. Jones, Nephew, Jahlil Darby-Tutein, and a host of other relatives, extended family, friends, and loved ones.

Services entrusted to A Life Celebration by Franklin, Taylor, Texas.
