Annie Lee Nesby Mitchell went to be with our Lord on March 16, 2009 at the age of 97. She was born July 8, 1911 in Bastrop County, Texas to Peter C. and Annie Harvey Nesby.

Annie was united in marriage to Benjamin Floyd Mitchell in 1934, and unto this union they were blessed with five loving children. She united with Simpson United Methodist Church at an early age and continued her Christian devotion and service until failing health prevented it. Her most rewarding accomplishment was being a member of the Gospel Choir for over 50 years—she loved to sing praises to the Lord.

Annie attended the public schools of Austin, Texas, graduating from L. C. Anderson in 1934. She was actively in her children's formative years, by participating in the school PTA, serving as homeroom mother and chaperoning various events. In 1973 after many years of service, she retired from the Austin Independent School District, Food Service Department.

Annie Lee Nesby Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Floyd Mitchell; daughter Lottie Nell Mitchell McQueen and her son Oliver Robert Mitchell.

Annie leaves to cherish her precious memories, two sons; Bennie F. Mitchell of Houston, Texas, Walter T. Mitchell (Ruby) of Austin, Texas; one daughter; Gloria A. Mitchell Shead (Charles) of San Antonio, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
