Malinda James (Mama Linda) was born on July 4, 1928 in Cedar Creek, Texas to the union of the late James and Marie Marshall.

Sister James' spiritual journey began at an early age when she joined Hopewell Baptist Church, Cedar Creek, Texas. Later she joined Zion Methodist Church, Seaside, California and was a member for 25 years serving on the Usher Board.

Upon returning to Austin, Texas from Las Vegas, Nevada she joined Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church, Austin, Texas.

Mrs. Malinda was married to Turner James for 32 years. He preceded her in death on January 16, 2003.

Mrs. Malinda worked ten years as an X-ray Technician in Abilene, Texas and fifteen years with operation shoe stores. Returning back to school and receiving a degree in Early Education, in Pasadena, California; she worked until her retirement.

She enjoyed helping others, and always shared whatever she learned. Malinda loved life, this was evident by her love of people and she was exceptionally fond of shopping and enjoyed good food and loved to share a meal with family and friends.

Her only son Arnester Jones preceded her in death.

Her memory will forever linger in the hearts of her loved ones, granddaughter LaReese (Lawrence) Turner; great grandchildren, Jeremy Washington, Lauren Turner, and Lawrence Turner, III of Las Vegas, Nevada; sisters Novella (Anderson) Jones of College Station, Texas and Matilda Williams of Dallas,
Texas; brothers Lonnie (Hortense) Marshall of Dallas, Texas and Eugene Marshall of College Station, Texas. She also leaves to cherish her wonderful spirit special nieces Marie Jones and Julia Hajek of Las Vegas, Nevada and a host of nieces and nephews, play daughter Mary (James) King and special friend of twenty years Mary Marget.

Services entrusted to A Life Celebration by Franklin, Taylor, Texas.
