Ernest was born September 27, 1936 to the late Parley Kindred and Frankie Beasley in Harlingen, Texas.

Ernest never met a stranger and he was always giving words of encouragement to everyone he met.

Ernest served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years, retired March 1, 1976 and Ernest also retired from the Teacher Retirement System after 10 years of service.

Ernest is preceded in death by one brother, Mr. August Beasley.

On Thursday, February 26, 2009, Ernest Lee Barnes transitioned into eternal life. Those that went before him will await his arrival on the other side: his parents and brother. Ernest's passing has brought sadness to the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Ernest's smile and charismatic personality will be remembered by all he encountered.

Ernest leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Marilyn D. Barnes of Austin, Texas; two stepdaughters, Sherrie Zamora of Kyle, Texas and Mart Rose of San Angelo, Texas; one stepson, Johnnie Jackson of Kyle, Texas; one sister-in-law, Delphine Kennon; one special daughter, Martha Crawford of Austin, Texas; four cousins, Wesley Kennon, Maybell Lott of Austin, Texas, Maddie Thomas and Stanley Walker of Oakland, California; nine grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
