Words cannot express the humility in this man we called husband, brother, dad, Paw-Paw, uncle, cousin, friend, Christian, man of God.

Mr. A. C. Novell Freeman was the sixth child born to Simon and Mattie (Doyle) Freeman on June 1, 1931 in St. Mary Colony, Bastrop County, Texas. Both parents, four brothers (Justice, Arvan, Earlee and Arthur Freeman) and one sister (Sallie Johnson) preceded him in death.

A. C. Freeman (Chick) attended grade school in St. Mary's Colony. He professed Christ as his personal savior at an early age at St. Mary's Baptist Church in St. Mary's Colony. There he served faithfully until he was led to move his membership to the Main East Austin Baptist Church which later became Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully for over fifty years. A. C. (Chick) honored the Lord with sincerity, humility, and dedication in service as a member of the Mount Sinai Baptist Church as a choir member, in the tape ministry, transportation ministry, Board of Trustee member, President of the choir and cook for the church picnics.

A. C. Freeman (Chick) worked for the City of Austin from April 29, 1953 until December 30, 1983. He was a dedicated employee whose work ethic was to never call in sick if you were not sick. He led by example. He retired from the City of Austin as a Supervisor of Construction and Maintenance with 30 years and eight months of service.

A. C. (Chick) was also a member of the Yellow Jacket CB Club and his handle was the "Golden Screwdriver".

A. C. (Chick) Freeman was united in Holy Matrimony to Virginia Howard in 1955 and to this union ten children were born.

Later in life on October 29, 1983 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Susie Hodge and no children were born to this union.

After a long and courageous battle he entered into his eternal rest on Monday, January 12, 2009 at 1:15 p.m.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of twenty-five years, Susie Freeman; one sister Mary Gilbert; one brother Alvester Freeman (Goldie); sisters-in-law Thelma Freeman, Doris Freeman, Mable Inez Freeman and Annie (Cooda) McGee; brothers-in-law Robert Hodge (Betty) all of Austin, Texas, McKinley Hodge of Los Angeles, California and Richard McGee (Brenda) of San Antonio, Texas; ten children of which were seven girls: Esther Freeman Crothers, Helen Freeman Taylor (Percy), Mae Pearl Freeman Neal (Joseph), Alta Freeman Moore, Tonia Freeman Dickey (Floyd), Sabrina Woods, Rae Michelle Woods; three sons: Rex Freeman(Bubba), James Freeman (PeeWee) (Brenda) and Geno Freeman; twenty-one grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
