She was born to the late Lonnie and Louvenia Williams on October 5, 1954, in Weldon North, Carolina. As a child, her father gave her the nickname "Bush" for her long gorgeous hair. She also quickly became known for several other things, such as dancing (which she did effortlessly) and a caring heart for others. She received her formal education in the Halifax County Public School System; where she graduated with honors.

She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist, of Weldon, North Carolina.

In 1967, at the tender age of 12, while at a dental appointment, she met her soul mate the love of her life, Irvin Clark. It was love at first site. They would later marry and remain happily married until her death 42 years later. While married, she followed her husband all over the world during his 22-year army career.

In 1984, while on a tour of duty in Hawaii with Irvin, Joyce rededicated her life to God. Then in 1987, they returned to stateside duty in Ft. Bliss Texas, where they remained until his retirement in 1995. That was a great time for her. She joined Community Baptist Church where she served faithfully. In fact, it was during that time that she became a pillar in the community. She never met a child that she didn't love or who didn't love her, making her a natural fit for taking over the duties as Youth Director at the church. It allowed her to spread her wings and walk in her calling. Under her directions, the church saw the youth department expand from four members to become the largest in the city. She would often take in children spending her on money for their upkeep.

Determined to live the life that she preached, she studied the Word of God night and day. God soon called her into the ministry. Joyce preached and taught the Word with power, but also in a no non-sense loving kind of way. Her ministry also included intercessory prayer and the laying on of hands, which she practiced as often as she could.

Treasured memories will remain with her loving husband: Irvin Clark, of their home; her children: Joynetta Clark Wright, of Austin TX; Damon Clark of Houston TX and Patrice Clark Burgess of Austin TX. Five grandchildren: Adrienne Latrice Wright, Tayanna Clark; Damon Clark Jr.; Saniya Clark and Daniel Clark. Son In-laws: Adrian Wright and Cory Burgess, both of Austin TX; Brothers: Walter Williams of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Ricky Williams of Indianapolis Indiana; Sisters Theresa Williams of Weldon, NC and Bessie Harris of Brooklyn, New York and a host of nieces and nephews.

Touching lives everywhere she went, Joyce will truly be missed, but will never be forgotten.
