Mrs. Willie Mae Brown

Willie Mae White was born May 9, 1921 in Granger, Texas to the late Walter and Mollie White. She always expressed fond memories of being raised among her brothers and sisters. The family enjoyed all of her stories and poems. She also enjoyed church services and activities after her conversion to Christ, as a young girl. Willie Mae graduated from high school in Granger, Texas as Salutatorian of her class. Later, she married Emiel Money Brown Sr., a widower with three small children (Tracy Louise, Kay Francis, and Emiel Brown, Jr.) who were severely ill. Willie Mae often shared how she felt great sympathy for the children, and extended her love by nursing them back to health. From their union, Willie Mae birthed five children: Johnny Mack Brown, Don Edward Brown, Joyce Nell Brown (died very young), Margaret Brown-Morris (Rev. C. E. Morris) and Vinnie Brown- James (Cecil James).

The family moved to Austin where Willie Mae worked at the legendary "DREAM SHOP." She joined 19th Street Missionary Baptist Church, in the late 1940's where she served in the Senior choir and on the Mission boards.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Emiel Money Brown Sr.; brothers, James Milton White, Walter Newton White, Alvin Lloyd White, Edwin White, and William Howard White; her sisters, Effie Francis White, Clarence Johnnie Mae White, Myrtle Lee White, and Eunice Bernice White; daughters, Joyce Nell Brown, Kay Frances Brown (Washington), sons Emiel Money Brown Jr., and Johnny Mack Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister Erma Rae White; Don Edward Brown (son); her three daughters, Tracy Ethley (Zelvin), Margaret Morris (Rev. C. E. Morris) and Vinnie James (Cecil); grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great great great grandchildren; nieces, and nephews, and many close relatives and friends.
