Laura Ellen DeVaughn Wright was born November 14, 1932 in Austin, Texas to Charles DeVaughn and Mable Fuller DeVaughn.

Laura was a longtime member for over 60 years at Simpson United Methodist Church. She served on the Usher Board, Hospitality, United Methodist Women, Ollie Butler Group and attended Adult Sunday School.

Laura attended public schools of Austin graduating from the old L. C. Anderson High School and attended college in Los Angeles, California. In the late 1960's Laura began working for the Austin State School and remained there until she retired.

Laura DeVaughn was privileged to find love and married Arthur Wright, Jr. on September 19, 1985 merging two families, Laura's children Debra Bedford (B.J., Sr.), Barbara Reed (Herbert), Michael DeVaughn and Arthur's children Connie M. Brown, Arthur L. Wright and Sharon D. Wright.

Laura was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband Arthur, sisters Maggie Crayton (Plato, Jr.), Henrietta Littleton, brother Charles DeVaughn, Jr., two nieces Stella Crayton, Anita Cazenave, two nephews, Plato Crayton, III, Leonard Roberts.

Laura is survived by her children Debra (B.J, Sr.), Barbara (Herbert) and Michael, grandchildren LaTonya, B.J., Jr., DeAnna, Danielle and Ryan; great grandchildren Kayla, Jailen, Imani and Deijah, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
