Sherwin Lawrence Sanders was the third child born to Miner and Annie Sanders on June 18th 1948 in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1966. He received a BA from Iowa State University in 1972 and his Masters in Vocational Rehabilitation from The University of Missouri at Columbia Missouri in 1974.

Sherwin started his career in Madison, Wisconsin as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with the State of Wisconsin in 1974. He later became a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the State of Texas where he stayed for 16 years followed by another 16 years at Goodwill Industries. He retired from Goodwill Industries in June of 2016.

Sherwin earned his spending money in high school by cutting his friends and neighbors' hair in his parents living room; they would often wait for hours to get their hair cut.
Sherwin's love for food resulted in him becoming a chopping and grill master. Just ask anyone who has ever tasted his smoked turkeys!! In addition, he was a big jazz fan who at one point in his life swung a mean bowling ball and golf club.

A committed worker, Sherwin excelled in all that he did at work and in his church ministries. As an usher and member of the culinary team at David Chapel, he served others with joy, demonstrating the characteristics of Christ.

Sherwin married the love of his life, Rozenna Foster on November 30, 1968 while both were attending Iowa State University. To that marriage was born two beloved children, April Dineen and Kevin Lawrence

Sherwin departed this life on January 18th 2017. He is preceded in death by his cherished parents, Miner and Annie Sanders, Brother Welford, Sister Vivian and favorite aunt Ann.
