Brenda Faye (Grandberry) Lewis was born August 19, 1948 to Grady and Roberta Grandberry in Austin, Texas.

She professed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a faithful member of the Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church before joining and becoming a member of the Alpha Seventh-day Adventist Church where she faithfully served as an usher, deaconess and choir member. She loved attending church until her health began to decline.

She began and continued her education at Blackshear Elementary School, University Junior Hugh and Stephen F. Austin High School, in Austin, Texas. She attended Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1972 graduated from Huston Tillotson College in Austin, where she was initiated into the Beta Kappa Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in 1970.

She worked as a teacher's aide at Sims and Rosedale Elementary schools. She also worked at Advantage Day Care and Push-Up Foundation Women's' Homeless Shelter. While employed as a Dorm Supervisor at the Travis State School she met Charles Lewis. They fell in love and were joined in holy matrimony in June 1975. They were the parents of two daughters, Charlene Denise Lewis and Collette Deshawn Lewis. They were happily married until his death in 2013.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady Grandberry, Roberta Grandberry-Green, and her husband, Charles Lewis Sr.

Brenda leaves to cherish her precious memories her daughters Charlene Lewis and Collette Lewis; grandson, Joshua Richard; stepson, Charles Lewis, Jr.; sister-in-law Trula Garner; brother-in-law, Lee Lewis (JoAnn)); and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. She also leaves to cherish her very special childhood friend Jennifer McNealy.

Brenda was lovingly and tirelessly cared for by her daughter Collette Lewis.
