Jerry Cannon was born May 28th 1947 in Austin, Texas, to Walter and Elizabeth Cannon. He was one of four siblings.

He graduated from Carver Junior/ Senior High School in 1965, attended Huston-Tillotson College for 1 ½ years and later joined the United States Marine Corp. He later entered the Air Force in 1969 and was a member of the honor guard. He served in the Air Force for 21 Years. He lived in Forrest Hills, Maryland before retiring from the military and moving to Austin, Texas in 2005.

He was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church (Austin, Texas) where he volunteered in the Media/AV Ministry and was a student of the St. James Center for Biblical Studies.

Jerry attended the University of Maryland and received his Bachelor's Degree in Business in May of 2000. He went on to attend St. Edwards University to achieve his goal of earning his Master of Business Administration. He was three classes short of receiving his M.B.A. degree when he passed away. He was determined to further his education and pursue his goals of higher learning.

He was an avid golf player, enjoyed working in his yard and socializing with his neighbors frequently and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Patricia Lewis-Cannon and were the proud parents of two daughters, Veronica Cannon and Michelle Cannon. Another daughter, Rosalind Washington, was born to Ella Robinson and Jerry.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Charles Cannon and a sister Mary Wright. Jerry leaves behind his sister Regina Lawson (Ted Lawson), daughters, Veronica Cannon, Michelle Cannon, and Rosalind Washington along with his grandchildren, Brandon Madyun, Braylun Cannon, Jordain Madyun, Jaiden Madyun and Angelica Washington and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
