Frank Ellison Sr., was born January 14, 1938 to the late Walter Ellison II, and the late Luella Black Burse. He received his education in the Austin Public School District and attended the old L. C. Anderson High School. He was married to Charlotte Russell Ellison for 56 years. To this union three children were born Frank Ellison Jr., Gwen Ellison Terry and James Ellison. He professed in Christ at an early age at David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, under the late Rev. J. L. Dawson.

He was a soft spoken person with a delightful smile; he was a very kind and caring person. Frank was preceded in death by his parents Walter Ellison II, mother Luella Black Burse, stepmother Bessie Ellison, stepfather S. M. Burse, son Frank Ellison Jr. and brother Walter Ellison III.
