Edwin Chester Howard was born in Chicago, Illinois to Samuel and Birda Lou Howard.

He served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. Before serving in Vietnam, he was stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base where he met and married his wife, Evelyn.

He was a devoted husband and father, a faithful servant at his beloved Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Brother Howard was a hard working member of Mt. Carmel Grand Lodge, where he served as, 33 degree Mason, District Deputy of Texas, Past Worshipful Master, Potentate of Sakarrah Temple Shrineres, National General Masonic Congress, Commander-in-Chief of National Consistory 32 degree, Patron Rose of Sharon, and Grand Lodge Officer.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, son Jason Howard, sister Glenda Madison and brother Jerome Sims.

Ed leaves to cherish loving memories, wife Evelyn Howard; daughter sherri Wrather (Tony); sons Milton Patton, Jr. (Erica), John Howard (Shanease), Tyrone Howard (Shakana); grandchildren, Natesha Jackson (Albert), Damian Wrather, Joshua Howard, Sydney Howard, Elijah Patton, Grayson Patton, Mai Howard, JayLan Howard, Kristian Howard, Tyreke Owens; godson, Kayden Daniels; 7 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Samnag Howard; sisters-in-law Dorothy Sims, Debra Anderson (Spencer); brother-in-law Larry Whitfield; and a lifetime of relatives and friends.
