Mrs. Lofton was baptized at an early age at the Loving Valley Baptist Church by the late Rev. W.T. Brown in Manor, Texas. It was during these early years that she attended grade school, notably Kealing Jr. High School and then the L. C. Anderson High School where she graduated in May 1950.
In the early years, Mrs. Lofton was a member of the David Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under Pastor J.E. Obey. On June 7, 1993 she became a member of the Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where Pastor A.W.Anthony Mays served as her pastor. Her membership involvement included being a very active member of the Mission II Auxiliary, Good News Sunday School Class Secretary, Senior Mission's Elizabeth Circle Secretary, member of the Senior Ministry and General Service auxiliary. She was a faithful visitor of the sick and shut in members of the church membership.
Mrs. Lofton worked at the Austin State School and later retired from the (AISD) in May 1996. She retired from her position at the Rosedale school where she worked with mentally challenged students. She has been a volunteer worker for many organizations such as the City of Austin Parks and Recreations, The Foster Grandparents Program and The Any Baby Can Cooperation.

She was widely known within the Austin Community of churches for making corsages and handkerchiefs for various church auxiliaries for annual day celebrations. Her favorite basketball team was the San Antonio Spurs. We are honoring her favorite team's colors on today.
