Keynard DeVaughn Agnew Sr. was born on June 25, 1939 to the late Willie Zeadean Agnew (Crenshaw) and Thomas Ruffin Agnew Sr., in Montgomery, AL. He was the second of three children, Thomas and Dianne.

Keynard attended St. Joseph's Catholic School, founded by the Tuskegee Airmen, and completed his secondary education at Tuskegee Institute High School. While attending college at Tuskegee Institute, now Tuskegee University, he met and married Ethel Jones in 1962. Children born to this union were Karen Denise and Keynard DeVaughn Jr.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction at Tuskegee Institute and upon graduation, Keynard and Ethel moved to Thomasville, GA. In 1965, the family moved to Austin, TX, where Keynard worked as a Physical Plant director at Huston–Tillotson College and later at Texas Instruments. Upon moving to Austin, the family became members of Wesley United Methodist Church. In 1984, Keynard established his own business as a contractor/master builder.

Keynard was a devoted Christian and will be remembered for his dedication to family, friends and community. As a successful business owner and because of his passion to serve others, he extended his services to local churches, schools and community.

Keynard's happiest times were spent with family and friends, and reminiscing with former classmates. He was a devoted member of the Capital City Lions Club and served as past president. He enjoyed attending Lions Club meetings and assisted with organizing community sponsored events. Keynard also enjoyed restoring antique automobiles, attending and competing in car shows, traveling to hometown events and family reunions, fishing and going to local swap meets.

Keynard departed this life on December 3, 2015. Keynard's parents Zeadean Crenshaw and Thomas Agnew Sr.; brother, Thomas Agnew Jr.; and sister, Gwen- dolyne Dianne Hopkins, preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memories: children, Karen Agnew of Austin, TX and Keynard Agnew, Jr. (Katie) of Austin, TX; two grandchildren, Anthony Agnew of Bay City, MI and Kaylee Cottee of Austin, TX, his beloved dog, Peewee; and a host of relatives and friends.
