Moses L. Williams, Sr.

Moses L. Williams, Sr., was born on September 28, 1929, in Gonzales, TX (Elm Slough), to the late Legora (Thomas) Williams and Willie Williams. He was the youngest of five children. Siblings: Reuben "R.D", Olton, Willie "S.J." Williams, and Ora Lee Williams (Hopkins).

Moses attended Gonzales public schools, and church with his family. He professed a hope in Christ at an early age, and was baptized.

As a young man, Moses moved to Robstown, TX., where he lived with his brother and wife, Olton and Alma Williams, for several years before being drafted into the military. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a veteran of the Korean War. He received three medals of honor for his bravery and injuries.

Some years later, Moses moved to Austin, TX, where he lived until his death. He married the love of his life, Theressa Walker, and gained a family of eight children. To this union one son was born, Moses Williams, Jr. He joined The New Lincoln Missionary Baptist Church in 1956 under the leadership of F.P. Robertson.

Moses retired from The Steck/Hart Graphics Printing Company. After being retired for a while, he went back to work as a school crossing guard; he enjoyed assisting the young children.

Moses entered eternal rest, peacefully, on Tuesday night, November 10th, with his son and daughter-in-law at his bedside. Moses was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, four step children, Joan Walker, Emmit Walker, Cornelius Walker, Louise Walker and a beloved sister in law, Alma Williams.

Moses leaves to cherish many loving memories; a son Moses Williams, Jr. and spouse Stephanie Williams, four step children; Lynn Walker, Patricia Ferguson (Robert), Betsy Walker, Debra Walker; six grandchildren, Chasity Williams, Moses Williams III, Cierra Williams, Kevin Williams, Ronnie Mitchell, Jr., Halle Mitchell; 6 great grandchildren, Quari Robinson, Summer Robinson, Brooke Robinson, Faith Williams, Anastasia Williams, Kylie Cooke; A special cousin and best friend, Squire Lee Williams (Gladys); a special caretaker Darlene Bacey; A loving and caring niece, Joyce "Sister" Williams-Jackson (Charles), and a host of extended family and friends.


Flowers may be delivered to Simpson United Methodist Church on Friday, November 20 at 4pm.

Services entrusted to Dr. Barry J. W. Franklin, CFSP and A Life Celebration by Franklin, Taylor, Texas.
