Ruby Louise Mackson was born February 17, 1951 in Austin, TX to Thomas Mackson, Sr. and Ruth Hill Mackson. Ruby went to Blackshear Elementary, Kealing Jr. High, University Jr. High, and graduated with honors from Austin High School. Ruby earned a full scholarship to the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with honors with a Bachelor and Master Degree in Education. Ruby was also a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

Ruby was married to Marvis L. Watson, Sr. and to that union one son Marvis L. Watson, Jr. was born.

Ruby Mackson attended church at an early age at Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Jimmy Miles. She later accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and attended Dunn's Memorial Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Salem Robinson, Jr. Sis. Ruby as a member of the DMBC Sick Committee where she was faithful to her duty of sending Get Well and Sympathy Cards on behalf of the Pastor and Church Family. Sis. Ruby was also very passionate about working on the Pastor's Anniversary Committee, she served as the historian and photographer. Sis. Ruby was dedicated to the DMBC Women Auxiliary (Daughters of the King) where she provided cancer awareness information, scarves, pins and pendants to all the sisters. She was instrumental in working with the DMBC Children and created/presented several special occasion programs (Grandma's Hands, Veterans Day Honor, Christmas). Sis. Ruby was faithful to the work of God until the Lord called her to her eternal home.

Ruby was first hired by AISD in 1975 as a special education aide; she worked at the St. John's Development Ctr. In 1977 she became a teacher and worked at various elementary schools throughout the district. In 2006, Ruby retired from the District after 31 years of service. .She prided herself in taking the challenge of teaching underperforming children and by the end of the school year they were able to pass the standardized test. She also worked with the Gifted and Talented Children at Winn Elementary School.

Ruby found her way to Hutto, Tx in 2002 after seeking guidance from God and her Pastor. She later became known as the "Jewel of Hutto" for her many civic services. She was active in the Annual Thanksgiving Dinner (Police/Fire Dept); Cancer Survivors Dinner for Hutto Citizens, creation of Hutto Library, Hutto Centennial Celebration, Neighborhood Night Out and many other community services.

Ruby departed this life on July 17, 2015. She leaves to cherish her memories one son, Marvis L. Watson. Sister, Fornora Eason, Diane Russell (William) and Brenda Mackson. One brother Thomas Mackson, Jr.(Sharon) and a host of neices and nephews along with the Dunn's Memorial Baptist Church Family.
