Rev. A. R. Evans was born August 10, 1933 in Creedmoor, Texas to Mark and Savannah Evans. Rev A. R. Evans went to Blackshear Elementary, Kealing Junior High, and L. C. Anderson High School.

A. R. Evans attended church at an early age, and was baptized at Center Union Baptist Church in Creedmoor, Texas, and later moved his membership to New Lincoln Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. F. P. Robinson.

Rev. A. R. Evans Sr. married Vivian Smith on October 2, 1953, and three children were born from this union; Alvin Evans Jr., Erick W. Evans, Della A. Evans Guidry.
Rev. A. R. Evans Sr. pastored Zion Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Kincheonville, Texas for 10 years, Texas, Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Seguin, Texas one year and eleven months, and New Lincoln Missionary Baptist Church (43 years).

While leading the New Lincoln Missionary Baptist Church, pastor Evans showed a great love for outreaching to the unsaved, and preached all over the State of Texas, and a few other countries witnessing Christ to those who needed a Savior. Through the outreach ministry, New Lincoln Missionary Baptist Church grew numerically, financially, and spiritually.

Rev. A. R. Evans Sr. was actively involved with the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas Foreign Mission Board of which he operated as the Executive Secretary. Rev. A. R. Evans loved reaching out to the unsaved which led him to lead several teams to Belize, South America to witness to the lost on behalf of the Foreign Mission Board.

Rev. A. R. Evans Sr. worked closely with Baptist Minister's Conference, Prison Ministry, Lyons Jr. Lodge No. 29, Austin Baptist Association, was one of the founding members of Austin Interfaith, St John Regular Baptist Association.
Rev. Evans was preceded in death by Jewell Terrell of San Jose, CA.; Bessie Joe Wilson of San Francisco, CA.; Ethel Goodspeed Antioch, CA.

Rev. A. R. Evans Sr. leaves to cherish his memories his wife of sixty plus year, Vivian Evans of Austin, Texas;Three Children- Alvin R. Evans Jr. (Cedel), Erick W. Evans Sr. (Barbara), Della Guidry (Theo); Ten grandchildren Letisha, Alvin III, Cloe, Alexis, Neichelle, Erick Jr., Theo III, Arianne, Jason, Mark; Five great-grand; Arianna, Sharif, Sloan , Henry IV, Alvin IV; and One sister---Birdie Jean Pinson of Austin, one brother- Mark C. Evans Jr. (Venola) of San Jose, CA.; a host of nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and other relatives and friends.

Finally, Rev. A. R. Evans Sr. heard the call from the Savior on June 30, 2015, and when he did, he experienced what Paul said in I Corinthians 15:52, "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed."
