Mrs. Edith Marie Walker (Re Re) was born to Earlie and Ora Earls on December 11, 1922 in Bastrop County. She joined Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church at the age of eleven and was baptized in the Colorado River by Reverend Charlie Jones. Marie Graduated from Union Hill High School in Bastrop County.

She moved to Austin where she met John Walker whom she married. To this marriage four children were born.

Marie attended the University of Texas for a semester. She later went to Huston-Tillotson College where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She furthered her education at Prairie View University earning a degree in Special Education. She taught school for a while.

Marie opened a Day Care in which she cared for many children. She spent 22 years caring for young children which she enjoyed doing.

Marie was a very spiritual person. She was a loving and kind person. During her membership at Rock Quarry Missionary Baptist Church, she held various positions: Sunday School Superintendent for eight years, Mission President for seven years, and a choir member for many years. She especially loved children, training them to act appropriately in God's house, at home, at school, and everywhere they went.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her son Ollie Bernard Walker, her daughter Shirley Walker, a grandson Scott Walker, both parents, seven brothers, and five sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Gloria Jean Walker De Froe, her son John Walker, Jr. (Patricia), God-children: Bridgett Renee Felder and Richard Felder, Jr., brother-in-law Frank Walker, sister-in-law, Betty Walker, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends
