Ruby Jean Thompson was born November 21, 1948 to Celestine and Willie Mack Thompson in Austin, TX. She attended local A.I.S.D. schools then later went to cosmetology school and did hair for many years. After deciding to change her career, she went to work at Travis State School until it closed and she then became a supervisor at Austin State School where she retired after 20+ years.

On January 1, 1986 Ruby married Brian Edwards. She was a devoted and loving wife for 29 years.

She was a founding member of CrossWork Christian Center where she served faithfully for the past five years. She was an active member of the church and was named the 2014 Congregant of the year. She was the president and founder of the "Because We Care, We Share Ministry." She served as Steward Pro Tem, head stewardess, and also served as the Southwest Texas Conference Stewardess President. Ruby also served on the finance committee and was a part of the Benevolence Ministry.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Coy Armsted, grandmother, MaryAnn Thompson, father, Willie Mack Thompson, step-father, Lewis Eppright, and great-nephew, Christopher McCullough.

She leaves to cherish her memories; Brian Edwards, husband, Brian (Kelly) and Lisa, two step-children, Celestine Thompson, mother, Mae Alexander, sister, Karen, niece, Ralphel (nephew), and host of other relatives and friends
