Bernice M. Reed was born March 9, 1923, to Isaac Banton and Willie E. Burleson Banton. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age.

Bernice moved to Austin in 1942 from Smithville, Texas. She joined the St. James Baptist Church in 1976 under the pastoral leadership of the Late Reverend E. M. Franklin. She was a faithful member until her health failed.

She united in marriage on April 25, 1946 to Jimmie L. Reed in Travis County. To this union one child was born.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one aunt, Victoria Jenkins; one sister, Charles Louise Lee; brother-in-law, James H. Lee; son-in-law, Alvin L. Denmon, Sr.; sister-in-law, Minnie L. Banton; and one grandson, Robert C. Worlds, Jr.

Bernice leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Marilyn Worlds-Denmon of Austin, Texas; one brother, Clarence Banton (Virginia) of Austin, Texas; a very special son, Bro. Clarence "Jack" Jackson. One grandchild, Margo R. Ollison (Kevin) of Round Rock, Texas; step grandchildren, Clyde Denmon (Margaret) of San Antonio, Texas, Alvin Denmon, Jr. of Houston, Texas, Voleta Denmon, Glenn Denmon and Tanish Burr all of Austin, Texas; two great-great grandchildren; six step great grand children; and three step great-great grandchildren. Her Extended family that she worked for over twenty years, Mr. and Mrs. Hollis Lovell and children, Terry Lovell Smith, Lisa Hahn and family. The parents and Terry preceded her in death. And a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
